Inside the Tower
This section provides a view of the interior of the Tower, so you can get a feel for the accommodation and if it will suit your needs. We’re constantly updating the interior so some of the appliances or decor may change slightly over time, but the fundamental layout will remain the same. We’ll try and update the website as often as possbible to make sure we give you the latest view.
Outside the Tower
In this section are a few photos that give you a sense of the Tower from the outside, with pictures from ground level and above. The Tower is located up a 300m gravel track that is accessible by car. This adds to the sense of remoteness and gives you peace and quiet from road noise - though on a stormy day you can hear the sea waves booming in the distance! The Tower has its own private woodland, complete with it’s own trig point (if you can discover it), and walkable pathways. There are amazing views of local landmarks like Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island and the Farne Islands from various points.
The Tower Woodland
The Tower is situated in its own private Woodland. Residents have full access to the woodland area, so please feel free to explore (but do so at your own risk - legal bit!). There are paths throughout the woodland to use. Please try to keep to them as we are replanting and rewilding the area after a lot of devastation from Storm Arwen (November 2021). There is all sorts of wildlife to see and spot, from hares, deer and red and grey squirrels to stoats and badgers (There is a large set on the north eastern boundary). Loads of different types of Fungus are present seasonally, and bird fans will not be disappointed either!
Tower Views
The Tower and woodland sit atop a hill (hence the name Bellshill), and have amazing views on a clear day across the Northumberland coaslline and over to the Cheviot hills too. You can see Holy Island, Budle Bay, Bamburgh Castle, The Farne Islands, and even down to Dustanburgh Castle looking South-East. There are some clearings in the woodland that give excellent views of Holy Island in particular, and of Bamburgh Castle from the gate at the most eastern point. Our favourite view is looking North from the midpoint of the woodland.
Tower Wildlife
Over the last year, with the talented help of our guests - you know who you are, and thank you! - we have collected a few photos of the local wildlife both in the woodland and in the surrounding area. This area of Northumberland is blessed with rich variety of creatures, great and small, on land and in the sea. Get out there and see them for yourselves when you come to stay. Sometimes, they’ll even come to you
